Electromechanical engineering technicians usually work under the guidance of engineers, usually in installation and maintenance of automated machines, troubleshooting and repairing division, fabrication and assembling of components and research and development and quality control. Their job roles may vary depending upon the area they are employed in, organization they work with and individual qualifications and experience.
They may find employment in manufacturing concerns, research and design firms, technical sales and services companies, automation houses or any other organization that relies in electromechanical or robotic machines for its operations. The program aims to help students build a strong base in engineering technology. Therefore, it incorporates theoretical learning and hands-on training on PLCs, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics and robotics. The college also organizes industrial visits, career nights and other related events.
Interested candidates can submit their applications to the college in person, online or by mail along with a copy of secondary school diploma certificate or equivalent, English Grade 12 C or University or equivalent and Mathematics Grade 11 M or 12 C or University or equivalent. Those who do not meet these requirements will have to take college’s English language and engineering math skills assessments.
The program graduates can seek employment in automotive, pharmaceutical, food, aircraft, and packaging and communications sectors. They can also continue for additional study and co-op work experience in three-year automation and robotics technology program.
